How the hell can you call yourself a progressive or a Democrat?
Now I understand that there are a lot of Libertarians masquerading as progressives here. There are even conservatives / Republicans doing the same.
What I wanna know is why is there a significant percentage of this site that absolutely rejects and aggressively refutes the fundamental truth of white privilege in America (and the rest of the world).
This is a nation that was built on the theft of land by white settlers.
The same folks then brought African slaves here and legally treated them as less than full human beings. Completely robbing them of their culture, stripping them of their identities. They denied them access to an education so that they could maintain the myth of superiority.
Even after 400 years of slavery ended, white people treated African Americans and other minorities as second class citizens.
It wasn't just the rich corporate barons who benefited from this ingrained American culture. Every white person benefited from America's "White's Only" culture.
The culture was intentionally set up so that even the poorest of the poor in white America would feel that they were still above the "Negro / Colored".
Do you think that all those poor ass white folks in the south during Jim Crow considered themselves equal to "N*ggers". Hell NO! They knew they were privileged because of their white skin. They desperately wanted to hold on to that privilege.
That's why they terrorized black civil rights leaders. Shouted at, spit on and threw rocks at black children trying to integrate schools.
It's why generations of white folks abandoned the Democratic Party and became loyal Republicans after the Democrats helped usher in the civil rights acts.
So I get disgusted reading countless tales of white folks on this forum who just don't feel privileged because they're white. I don't care what you feel. Facts are facts whether you accept them or not.
It'd be like some man saying he doesn't feel privileged / advantaged over a woman so therefore gender inequality doesn't exist. The ignorance is inexcusable.
White Privilege means that no matter how wealthy or educated a black man is, he will always be treated as a common street thug simply because of his brown skin. He will always fit a description and be treated with suspicion no matter how big his bank account is or the prestigious degrees on the wall. It means that his white counterparts will always be viewed as an individual and judged on their credentials.
This is the fundamental argument of the GOP. They are the white people's party.
If you can't understand this then you don't belong in the Democratic Party. We fundamentally rejected that world view when we nominated Barack Obama to represent our party in 2008.
Racist Oath Keeper suspended from St.Louis Police force. I was reminded of Glenn Greenwald.
The other night while watching Lawrence on MSNBC he showed clips of a racist St.Louis Police officer who went on an hour long rant at an Oath Keepers event.
The officer repeatedly and proudly referred to himself as a killer and said he would kill again. He also went in to a tired rant about Obama being Kenyan etc etc.

This just so happened to be the same officer who was seen aggressively pushing Don Lemon live on CNN during a protest.
All of this shouldn't come as a shock to anybody. People who know who the Oath Keepers are know that they are a dangerous white supremacist militia within the Police and Military ranks. They have direct ties to neo-nazis and the KKK.
This is old school racism straight out of the Jim Crow era.
Yet despite all of this Glenn Greenwald decided a year ago promote them with a tweet to his followers. Here's how Greenwald tried to white wash this racist group in his tweet and package them to his supporters.
"A coalition of current and former military, police, and other public officials place huge pro-Snowden ad in Metro"
His tweet was from an article on the libertarian site Reason.com
Ironically Reason wasn't ashamed to mention the name "Oath Keepers" in their headline. They know who their audience is.

I hear a lot of people online pretending that they are just baffled by the hostility that some liberals have for Greenwald. They just can't understand what he has done to earn our distrust.
This just shows how he is perfectly comfortable wading in the darkest waters of the right wing racist swamps. He is willing to reach down deep to align himself with some of the worst folks around just as long as they help promote his agenda.
Maybe now people will realize why we have issues with him and don't consider him to be a credible source.
Obama and Hillary aren't progressive enough so let's support a Right Wing Racist like Rand Paul
Not only that. Let's try to sell one of the most rabidly right wing politicians in America as a "progressive" alternative to insufficiently "left" mainstream Democrats.
This is the message that Libertarians have been flooding Democratic / Liberal message boards and forums with for YEARS. Dating back to the early 2000's with Klansman Ron Paul's campaigns.
There is big money behind these efforts too.
It's hilarious watching people who pretend to be ideologically pure left wing gatekeepers twist themselves in knots to justify promoting a racist teabagger from the right wing swamps as a viable candidate.
For the last 6 years these people have taken giant shits on EVERYTHING President Obama has done, said or been involved in. Every policy isn't progressive enough. Every speech is just meaningless words. The porridge is always too hot or too cold. Goldie locks is never happy with Obama or Democrats.
These folks even have the nerve to mock and belittle Obama's supporters for combating racism. You know because they are just so progressive and can't be bothered with such insignificant issues.
Now here we are again and it's time for the stealth Libertarians to begin their election season anti-Democrat Paulite campaign. These folks claim to be so far to the left that mainstream Democrats disgust them. At the same time they are just compelled to heap praise on Rand Paul because he is just so awesome on "the issues". (just like his father)
But don't mention all the issues or these folks will angrily shout you down. And you better not ask them why they can't find an actual liberal or Democrat to promote who shares their "issues". That's being a party loyalist.
What's even funnier is watching them try to lecture REAL Democrats on why people should be willing to trade away all their Democratic ideals to support a neo-confederate Republican.
The bottom line is these Libertarians think we're all unbelievably dumb. They think we haven't noticed their agenda from the beginning.
Democrats need to stand up and be united against this stupidity. I'm not saying people need to support Hillary. Personally I have many issues with her.
But Democrats and Liberals need to be finding Democratic candidates to advance our ideas. Not peddling racist white supremacists and teabagger Republicans as "good" on issues when in fact they are just anti-government ideologues.
If you can't tell the difference then you aren't on our side.
PS: for the record I Support Elizabeth Warren. Apparently to divert attention away from the Paul pimping around here some folks in this thread wanna make it all about Hillary.
